After retiring in 2010, Mark Hartsuyker reinvented himself by learning video technology and using it to tell the stories of non-profits. His video projects have covered the History Center, the Friendship Donation Network, and the last eight years of restoration of the Thomas Morse Scout aircraft (Tommy). But he had never created a video with his own story and one that reflects his love of stop action animation.

When he became an active volunteer at Buffalo Street books, he began to imagine an animated short featuring some of his favorite characters getting into mischief at night in the bookstore. The idea of using the film to support Buffalo Street Books, and independent booksellers in general, excited him.

This project has become a year-long family affair, with his older brother Paul creating an important computer-animated creature and his wife knitting the monsters. He has networked with a variety of friends, including Nick Weiser, who generously composed the music.

Come and see the antics of these characters in “A Little Night Mischief”. You will never think of them the same way again.
