Each fall during Latinx Heritage Month, film lovers of all ages gather in Ithaca for upstate New York’s premiere Latin American film festival: Cine con Cultura Latinx American Film Festival.

2019 marks the sixth annual celebration of Latin American filmmakers from all over the continent, and the official festival selection for this year includes critically-acclaimed and award-winning films from seven different countries. Some are brand new, some are from a few years ago, and all of them provide a different glimpse into life throughout Latin America and the US.

Festival screenings will take place several times a week from Tuesday, September 16th, 2019 through Sunday, October 13th, 2019.

Wed Sep 25 at 7 pm – I’ll See You Around (Ithaca, 2019)
Sun Oct 6 at 2 pm- Filberto (Puerto Rico, 2018)
Thu Oct 10 at 7 pm – Las Herederas (Paraguay, 2018)
Sun Oct 13 at 2 pm- Máxima (Peru, 2018)

More information about ¡CULTURA! Ithaca: The CULTURA Ithaca! program aims to provide and strives to foster and share Latina/o/x & Latin American culture with the Tompkins County community through free and low-cost arts and education experiences. Community members, professors, and students bring events into the community and build connections to its exciting and diverse Latinx roots that explore different Latina/o/x cultures through storytelling, music, film, dance, art, theater and more.

CULTURA Ithaca! also provides programming that focuses on civic engagement and education on subjects like finances, health, legal issues and more. CULTURA’s downtown office, located in the
Tompkins County Workers Center on the 2nd Floor of Autumn Leaves Used Bookstore on the Commons, acts as a resource center and gathering space for Latin@s and amig@s to come together. It is also the site of the Cafe con CULTURA coffee and Spanish conversation hour.
