Film Screening presented by New Jim Crow Community Book Read

Saturday, February 18 at 2 pm

This FREE screening is held in conjunction with the Ithaca Community Book Read of Michelle Alexander’s The New Jim Crow: Mass Incarceration in the Age of Colorblindness. The screening will be followed by a discussion led by Eric Kofi Acree, Director of the John Henrik Clarke Africana Library.

About the film:

Follows three young, committed Public Defenders who are dedicated to working for the people society would rather forget. Long hours, low pay and staggering caseloads are so common that even the most committed often give up.

The film’s award-winning director, Dawn Porter, will speak on February 21, 2017 at 6:00pm at the State Theater of Ithaca for Cornell’s annual MLK Commemorative Lecture.
