Cinemapolis is proud to announce the 2nd edition of a weekend-long film festival curated by Ithaca High School students. Just in time for the end of the school year, The Before Our Time Youth Film Festival features four films meant to be seen on the big screen. Each film will feature an introduction from members of the selection committee and prize giveaways for attendees. Discounted tickets for this special weekend of screenings are just $5 per show or $15 for all four films. The Before Our Time Youth Film Festival at Cinemapolis is made possible by lead sponsor Purity Ice Cream.

The festival is the result of a collaboration between the cinema’s Family and Educational Programming committee and a group of Ithaca High School students, some of whom were alumni of the Cinema Studies class taught by IHS teacher, Michael Reiff. “Our Family and Ed committee has had five years of success bringing in younger audiences through the Family Classics Picture Show series, but we really wanted to find a way to engage teens with some great cinema,” said Brett Bossard, executive director of Cinemapolis. “I contacted Mr. Reiff, and a team of interested IHS students formed pretty quickly.”

The Before Our Time Youth Film Festival at Cinemapolis, presented by Purity Ice Cream, begins with Charade on Friday, June 7th at 5 pm. Advance tickets are available now at Cinemapolis.org or in person at the box office during regular business hours at the cinema. Special weekend pass lanyards will be available for purchase beginning Tuesday, June 4th.
