IPAAFF Returns for 2019 Installment

2019 ITHACA PAN ASIAN AMERICAN FILM FESTIVAL

Friday, October 4, 5-7pm, Cinemapolis: Screening of Afterearth and Transfinite

Transfinite is a sci-fi omnibus feature film composed of seven standalone short stories where supernatural trans and queer people from various cultures use their powers to protect, love, teach, fight and thrive. The director, Neelu Bhuman, will join us via Skype for a Q&A following the film.

Afterearth is a thirteen-minute narrative about the fight of four women to preserve their homelands of Hawai’i, the Phillippines, China, and North America. Kit Yan, the writer for the film, will join us in Ithaca for an on-campus talk (Clark Lounge, 12-1 on 10/4/19) and then for a Q&A after the screening.

ABOUT THE FESTIVAL:

The Ithaca Pan Asian American Film Festival is dedicated to supporting Asian American film, video and media makers both nationwide and throughout the upstate New York area while promoting films created by, starring, and/or about Asian Americans.

The Ithaca Pan Asian American Film Festival aims to:

  • Develop and support both emerging and experienced Asian American filmmakers and artists who work in a range of genres and styles
  • Engage audiences in a diverse and complex spectrum of Asian and Asian American works
  • Present students with the opportunity to learn about Asian American film and gain event-planning skills
