The community is invited to a celebration showcasing Vitamin L’s new video of its iconic song “Walk a Mile.”

To honor Vitamin L and its contributions to fostering empathy and understanding through music and songs, Mayor Svante Myrick is declaring February 11, 2017 as “Walk a Mile Day.”
It was 30 years ago that Jan Nigro wrote “Walk a Mile,” which has become the signature song of Vitamin L. Founded by husband-wife team Jan and Janice Nigro in 1989, the Vitamin L project is a nationally recognized singing group that uses music to help foster positive character traits in children, such as appreciating diversity, compassion, gratitude and kindness.
The song encourages empathy as the lyrics proclaim “I want to walk a mile in your shoes.”
In addition to debuting the new “Walk a Mile” music video, the celebration at Cinemapolis will feature reflections by prominent local residents on examples of empathy in their lives, a video montage of groups from far and wide performing “Walk a Mile,” and a short concert by the Vitamin L singers.
