Human Again

**FREE SCREENING — Sunday April 27, 2:30 PM — Co-Sponsored by The Phoenix Players & Civic Ensemble’s Re-Entry Theatre Ensemble — Talkback with four of the founding members of PPTG to follow the film** A motivated group of incarcerated men in a maximum-security prison, who are dedicating themselves to the freedoms of theatre in hopes of reconnecting with their repressed humanity, are followed on their journey by a group of college student filmmakers documenting the group’s efforts to become “Human Again.” The film highlights the insights that these incarcerated men have about themselves, each other, and prison life. The members of PPTG demonstrate wisdom and humor and their conversations are astoundingly insightful. One comes away aware of the intelligence of these men, their kindness toward those civilians co-creating with them, their care for one another, their efforts to more than just "survive" life in a maximum-security facility, and the collective wisdom that the group has amassed. The film is a powerful testimony to the human potential that is sometimes wasting away in such facilities. It breaks the stereotypical view of incarcerated people and gently forces the viewer to reevaluate his/her own view of incarceration and the incarcerated, as well as the potential for genuine rehabilitation. As one PPTG member puts it: "You can live life in prison, or you can live YOUR life in prison."PT2H2025-04-27
